A man was arrested after absconding from a California Highway Patrol (CHP) patrol unit that led to a pursuit in Fresno County this Friday afternoon.
According to the CHP , an official was assisting in a traffic accident that happened in the vicinity of North and Temperance avenues.
At that moment, when the officer was clearing the road, one of the travelers , identified as, Clayton Parker, age 34 involved in the accident, was admitted to the CHP unit and he went.
Other units responded to the pursuit for about five miles. In addition, air support was called in to assist the police vehicles, CHP says they never let the stolen patrol out of their sight.
The chase ended near Peach Avenue and Highway 180. Parker was arrested. No injuries or follow-up damage were reported.
Authorities are investigating a possible DUI for the hit-and-run driver. CHP says the suspect faces multiple charges in connection with the incident, including auto theft, evading police, drug and alcohol DUI, driving with a suspended license, probation violation, and resisting arrest.
