More than 200 Texas state troopers are flush with pounds; they have been ordered to lose weight by December

HOUSTON – There’s no nice way to put it, in Texas a notorious number of state troopers are over the pound.

That’s right, the issue of being overweight has become a very serious thing in the Texas Department of Public Safety.

So serious is the thing that hundreds of them have been given an order to lose weight and if they don’t do it between now and this coming December they will have to face the consequences.

Documents obtained by the Dallas Morning News reveal that police officers found to be overweight they will have to lose weight and meet the goal of the weight they have to lose by December and if they do not they will not be considered for promotions, salary increases and overtime.

Men must have a waist measurement less than 40 inches, and women must be under 35 inches.

The measure called “Command Presence” has the objective of improving the physical condition of its police officers and promote healthy habits.

Currently, according to official documents, more than 200 state police officers do not meet the aforementioned requirements. Police who do not comply with the required measures have until December 1 to get online.

Police officers will be offered nutrition and exercise programs.
