In recent days the names of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have sounded loud and strong for the testimonies she has given the actor as a result of the lawsuit he filed against his ex , with whom he was married in February 2008 to May 2016 .

During their fleeting marriage, the former couple lived in the highest part of the building Eastern Columbia, on Broadway, where the protagonist of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ owned five penthouses, although not all of them were inhabited by them.

The then couple lived in PH1, while the rest of the units were inhabited by Isaac Baruch, by Whitney Heard and by a group of friends.

It was precisely in that address where Johnny Depp and Amber Heard staged some of the violent fights that have been relived during the trial and that have occupied the front pages of the pink press.

Shortly after their separation, the star of ‘Edward Scissorhands’ decided to turn the page and put the five penthouses up for sale for $12,780, of dollars, although it did not close the door to the possibility of selling them separately, which finally happened.

The first of the apartments was sold, in September 2016, for $2,545,000 of dollars. That unit -which was the largest- had an area of ​​2,147 square feet, with two bedrooms, three bathrooms and a terrace with splendid views of the city.

The second unit was sold, in November of 2016, for $3,090, of dollars and from there the rest followed. The fourth was sold for $1,545, of dollars, while the last one did, in November 2017, for $1,425,000 of dollars. There are no official data on the third sale.

The building enjoys in its common areas of lobby, terrace , swimming pool with its respective spa area, as well as a fitness center.

The five penthouses were bought by Johnny Depp, between 2006 Y 2008, for $7,200, of dollars, so, as we could already see, a significant profit was recorded 10 years later.

What is the building like where were Johnny Depp’s penthouses?

The building, known as Eastern Columbia Buiding or Eastern Columbia Lofts, is Art Deco style, is distributed throughout 12 floors, was designed in 1930 by Claud Beelman and is considered one of the most emblematic buildings in the area, since in its best times it had a spectacular clock.

It was built to house the department stores of the firms Eastern and Columbia, but over the years it changed direction and into 2006 already housed a total of 147 condominiums, being Johnny Depp one of its most famous residents.
