Sky watchers will be in for a cosmic treat this month: a rare alignment of four planets in the predawn sky.

Some 45 minutes before sunrise, you can see almost in the same imaginary line to 4 planets: Jupiter, Venus, Mars and Saturn, very close to the horizon, to the east.

The visible alignment of these planets is a relatively unusual opportunity for people to see multiple planets in the sky at a glance, and it is the prelude to an even rarer planetary alignment happening this summer.

To see the planetary quartet, sky watchers in the northern hemisphere should leave about an hour before sunrise and look to the southeast, in the direction of sunrise.

There, the path of the sun in the sky has a steeper angle with respect to the horizon, compared with the northern hemisphere, which means that the chain of planets will unfold higher than the ama point need. In both cases, Jupiter will be the second brightest planet in the celestial gathering, but will appear lower on the horizon, which could make detection difficult. That will change as the month progresses, according to NASA.
