The Department of Public Safety (DPS) warned all overweight state officers that it is mandatory to lose extra pounds and has a limit until December of this year, otherwise disciplinary measures and sanctions will be taken.
Information obtained by The Dallas Morning News revealed that Male officers must have a maximum waistline of 40 inches and female officers 35 waist inches to qualify within the standards now allowed.
The measurements for officers exposed by the DPS is general, but will depend on the height and percentage of body fat of each officer. The goal is to improve the health and fitness of each of them.
The authorities carried out a medical and physical condition examination on all security elements in the state of Texas this April. Of the 4, 000 officers who are registered in all the cities and counties that make up the southern state, 213 are overweight.
Representatives from the Department of Public Security warned the police officers that they have until December 1 of this year to lose the extra pounds, since if they do not comply with this requirement, they will lose several benefits and there may be some sanctions.
