Many times it happens that you go to start your car in the morning and it doesn’t work. There are multiple factors that can fail, but if the day before your car was in optimal conditions, it is very likely that what is failing is the battery. If this is the case, it’s not going to start just by swiping the key or pressing a button.
If you are not in a hurry you can buy another battery and replace it, or if you are far from home call a tow truck. But if you have to go somewhere on time, it will be essential that you know how to load it.
In this note we will teach you how to charge it correctly at home without a mechanic helping you. There are only five steps and doing them will not take you more than half an hour.
What tools do you need?
Five steps to charge
Get a car with a charged battery or a charger: You need an item that charges the car battery, and this could be another car or a car battery charger. In case your car still has some battery you can try to push it, start it, and drive at least a few 15 minutes.
Connect the clamps of the charged battery to the discharged one: Open the hood of both cars and locate the battery in both. The first thing you should do is place the clamps with the red cables on the positive terminals, the black cables on the negative ones.
Start the car with charged battery: After correctly connecting both batteries, you have to start the car with charged battery. Accelerate and leave the car running at about 2, rpm so that it costs less to start the unloaded car.
Start the car with a flat battery: After a reasonable time of five minutes, try to start the car with a flat battery. If it turns on the first time, you should leave it like that and remove the tweezers that you placed in the reverse order of how they were put on. The negatives are first removed from the discharged battery and then from the charged one. Same procedure for positives.
Leave the car running for five minutes: So that the battery to charge you must leave the car on and running for at least 07 minutes. Once charged you can use the car again without problems.
With these simple steps you will save yourself some extra money by not calling a mechanic or a tow truck.
