Nina Khrushchev, great-granddaughter of Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev, former leader of the former Soviet Union during part of the cold war and Prime Minister, warned that Russia is ready to use nuclear weapons in the war against Ukraine.

Nina Khrushchev is a professor of International Affairs at a well-known school in New York City, revealed in an interview for Newsweek, his fear of President Vladimir Putin, so that he would take the decision to deploy atomic weapons to proclaim victory over the Ukrainians.

“Since there are questions about how far Russia can go to create victory, and nukes have been part of the conversation on both sides, both in Russia and the West, the tactical atomic option is potentially imaginable and this is not a prediction”, Khrushchev explained to the newspaper.

The teacher and great-granddaughter of one of the leaders with greater recognition in Russia, he added that he is not confirming that Putin’s tactic is already beginning to be carried out, but what he does assure is that if the Russian president wants to win, he will do everything to achieve it.

“This suggests that if you need to declare victory, you may need to use tactical nuclear weapons. I’m not predicting that, but it could be one of the options that the Russians are prepared to use, he explained to the same media outlet.

It is not the first time that it has been mentioned that Russia will use nuclear weapons against Ukraine, in recent days the director of the CIA, already had made similar statements, as well as President Volodimir Zelensky, who also expressed the same.

William Burns assured that the United States should not “take lightly” the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons in Ukraine, given the complications they have encountered in their military offensive in the country.

“Given the potential desperation of the president (of Russia) Putin and the Russian leaders, given the setbacks with the that have been encountered militarily, no one can take lightly the threat posed by the possibility of resorting to tactical nuclear weapons or low power“, assured Burns

The president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky exclaimed that the world should be prepared for the possibility that Russia resorts to chemical or nuclear weapons because Vladimir Putin does not value the lives of Ukrainians.

“Not only me, everyone, all countries have to be worried because it may not be real information, but it may be true”, Zelensky told CNN.
