This Tuesday afternoon Paco Gabriel de Anda lit up social networks and became a trend due to a comment he made during the broadcast of Fútbol Picante, where compared Sebastián Córdova with Pedri, from FC Barcelona.
His argument was that the Tigres midfielder has a better shot from a distance, since the Blaugrana has only scored once in that way, while the feline player has several, like the one he scored against South Korea in the Olympic Games of Tokyo 2020.
“Córdova doesn’t ask Pedri for anything. How many goals does Pedri have outside the area? One. Outside the area, the one that just did just outside the area. The only one he has in his career with his right leg, let’s not even talk about his left. Now, How many does Córdova have outside the area?”, expressed De Anda, unleashing tremendous reactions, which began with his set partner.
“Honestly, for me there is no point of comparison between what Córdova and Pedri are“, Mauricio Ymay said immediately, distancing himself from the statement he had just heard .
Moments later, the avalanche of criticism began on Twitter, from various journalists and football fans who found the comment quite out of place .
“The most ridiculous thing about “comparing” Córdova with Pedri is not talking about their respective levels, the biggest mistake is not identifying the player profile that is one and the other. It’s just that they don’t look alike at all. From being a game ‘owner’ to being a ‘comer’, there is a lot of difference”, wrote Pepe del Bosque, from TNT Sports.
For his part, Juan Pablo Fernández, who works for ESPN and TV Azteca, also gave his opinion: “It is a footballing blasphemy, Pedri is top 10 in the world today, he was MVP of the last European Championship , he plays in the second best league on the planet, he is the undisputed starter for Barcelona and for a power like Spain, the guy is a crack. Córdova is a bench in Liga MX”.
In this regard, Martín del Palacio Langer was also forceful: “Beyond proper names. Today no player in Liga MX is at the level of any player in Barcelona’s main rotation . Not even from Sergiño Dest. To say otherwise is clickbait or cheap jingoism”, he wrote.
On the other hand, “El Ruso” Zamogily and David Faitelson agreed and took up previous examples of absurd comparisons, in addition to emphasizing that these comments only make people laugh and are not good for any footballer.
As for the fans there were more direct criticisms, even with ridicule and attacks on the analyst.
To top it off, there was who brought the influencer gamer Ibai Llanos into the equation, who recorded a Tik Tok scoring a goal from outside the area on an amateur field and for this reason the fan ironically said that he was already wearing the same goals than Pedri.
