During the decade of the 90, Julia Roberts was crowned the queen of romantic comedy in the industry film, because in the portfolio there were already gems like “Pretty Woman” (1990), My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997) and Nothing Hill (1999).

Despite its imminent success , the Oscar winner has stayed away from this genre for more than two decades. And although at first the public attributed it to her need to explore another facet as an actress, the actress finally revealed the reason behind her decision.

In an interview with The New York Times Magazine, Julia Roberts indicated that her detachment from romantic comedies was not intentional and even during all this time has been searching for a project of this genre as good as the others he starred in.

“If I had read a script on the level of Notting Hill or very funny like My Best Friend’s Wedding, I would have done it. But nothing good enough has come my way ,” she told the renowned magazine.

“People sometimes misunderstand the amount of time that has passed and associate it with the fact that I didn’t want to do a romantic comedy. There hasn’t been a chance until Ticket to Paradise, written and directed by Ol Parker” Roberts added.

However, this is not the only cause behind his decision. According to the actress, she now has a commitment that goes beyond herself, because she now has children.

“I have had three children in the last 18 years. That raises the bar even higher because then it’s not just about ‘Is this material any good?’ It is also the mathematical equation of my husband’s work, the children’s school and summer vacations, ”Julia Roberts specified about the family she built alongside Daniel Moder.
