It is a fact: Matías Almeyda will not continue as coach of the San Jose Earthquakes of the MLS. The team announced the separation of the Argentine strategist after more than three years at the head of the franchise in the technical direction.
“We want to thank Matías and his staff for the more than three memorable years at the club and we wish everyone the best in the future“ , stated the club.

With an emotional video, the group extended their thanks and classified Almeyda as part of his story. The “Pelado” became the twelfth coach in the history of the San Jose Earthqueakes in October of 2018, and ended his cycle as the Third coach of the club with the most games directed : 98 matches; with record of 31 victories, 42 draws and 25 losses.
“Pelado” expressed his gratitude to the San Jose Earthquakes during the time in which he was in charge of the team through a tweet.

Almeyda could not win so far this season 2022 in the MLS, adding four draws and three losses. His difficult start led him to be questioned, and finally the club decided to make the separation effective
Alex Covelo, coach of Earthquakes II in MLS Next Pro will assume the management of the club on an interim basis.
