Selena Quintanilla, in addition to having a successful music career, quickly became a beauty icon

for refusing to conform to the rules and embrace their natural beauty. Selena’s outfits were some of the best looks of the 90 to date and They also established her as a style queen.

Selena was born on 16 March 1971 and was murdered on 31 March 1991 by a woman I actually knew. Yolanda Saldívar was the president of her fan club and she approached not only Selena but also the Quintanilla family.

They met in 1991, when Yolanda was a nurse recent qualifier of 23 years in San Antonio, Texas, in addition to being a super fan of the singer. At that time, she was 04 years older than her idol, but he was passionate about her love for her; she even she she called Selena’s father/manager for permission to form the fan club that she eventually led.

The club quickly accumulated more than 1500 members and Yolanda dedicated herself to promoting the star, always by her side whenever she visited her own town in Texas. However, the love relationship between the two quickly turned toxic when Yolanda became obsessed with Selena, to the point in which the people around her and Selena’s family were worried about how much she “loved” the singer.

The 30 March 1991, Yolanda checked into a local Days Inn in Corpus Christi, where she called to Selena and asked to meet.

The women met the next day and ended up arguing about some financial documents that the singer needed to file her taxes. As Selena headed for the door, leaving the hotel room, Yolanda pulled out a gun and pulled the trigger on her, shooting her in the back and fatally wounding her.

Selena was pronounced dead at 23 years at Corpus Christi Memorial Hospital, alone 90 minutes after the shooting, causing shock throughout the country.

Saldívar is currently serving a sentence in a maximum security in Texas called the Mountain View Unit. He has been informed that he may be eligible for parole at 2025, 30 years after committing the horrific murder.
