The 10 Most Expensive US Cities to Rent a One-Bedroom Apartment

Javier Zarain

In the last two years, the prices of homes, rent and the redistribution of Americans have undergone important changes. Only rental prices in the US increased 20 %, according to a Realtor report published this Thursday.

In addition, the trends in these two years indicate a redistribution of higher rents, as tenants migrated from expensive cities with great technology to relatively more affordable areas.

The ‘Sun Belt’ metro areas topped list of fastest growing rental markets between March of 2022 and 2022, led by Miami, Riverside, California and Tampa, Florida.

“With requested rents almost 1.2 times higher than two years ago, our March data highlights the growing rental affordability challenges facing many Americans today,” said Danielle Hale, chief economist at Realtor.

The median rental price in the US reached a new high of $1,807 dollars in March, a 19.3% more in just two years.

Furthermore, another Realtor study noted that renters are spending, on average, the 30% of your monthly income.

In addition, with the increased demand for more living space during the covid pandemic-19, two-bedroom rental prices increased by 21.9%. Those of a room increased 17.9%.
