The Republican congressman for the state of North Carolina, Madison Cawthorn, said in an interview that the legislative life of Washington DC is fine represented in the dark series “House of Cards” on the Netflix streaming platform and that “there are orgies and cocaine.”

In an interview for the Warrior Pet Society podcast the young congressman was asked if the series “House of Cards” reflects a dark vision of the world in which the politicians of the Capitol in the US capital move.

“Suddenly, they invite you and tell you ‘we are going to have a sexual encounter in one of our houses, you should come’. And you realize that you have been invited to an orgy”, assured the Republican, affirming that the series is It looks a lot like what he has seen since he arrived in Washington DC.

After a meeting with Cawthorn, the leader of the Republican minority in the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, called the comments “unacceptable” .

“In the interview he says that he has seen people take cocaine. And then he tells us that he thinks he saw an employee in a parking lot from 100 yards away“, McCarthy said.

“It’s just frustrating. There is no evidence behind his claims. I have told him that he cannot say things like that, as a member of Congress, things that affect the whole world and the country as a whole.”

“It has angered many members -of the Lower House-. I have told him that he has lost my trust and that he has to win it back,” McCarthy said.

The youngest legislator in Congress , is an ultra-conservative, very controversial and faithful follower of former President Donald Trump, to the point that last month he recognized the legitimacy of the Joe Biden government.

At the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the republican called the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky “a thug” and his country “incredibly evil”, repeating the propaganda made by the government of Vladimir Putin, which justified the attacks on the neighboring nation.

Exaggerated comments?

In the interview for the podcast he commented the following : “Some of the people who are leading the movement trying to end drug addiction in the country and then you see them, you know, with a few grams of cocaine there in front of you. And it’s like, wow, this is wild”.

“The only thing what doesn’t fit reality in that series is that you could never pass an education bill that fast,” Cawthorn said.

However, The young congressman does not refer to places, moments about the alleged unbridled activities, nor does he name who the participants are .

The Freedom Caucus, a group that brings together the most conservative legislators of the Republican Party, demanded that Cawthorn make such remarks and challenged him to name names, if his statements are completely true.

For his part, Democratic congresswoman for the state of New York, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, referred to the controversy on the social network Twitter, questioning why Republicans are so surprised by the comments from the young legislator.

Not sure why Republicans are acting so shocked by Cawthorn’s alleged revelations about their party.

“One of its members (referring to Matt Gaetz from Florida, also far-right) is being investigated for sexually trafficking a minor and they seem to be quite ok with that. Members who voted to impeach Trump faced more consequences”, wrote Ocasio-Cortez.
