On 30 March 2022 Bruce Willis announced that he was retiring from acting because he suffers from aphasia,
a disease that affects language and ability to write and communicate. However, according to interviews published in the Los Angeles Times, stage partners already speculated that the actor was not in good health.
The producer and director of “Out of Death” Mike Burns commented that during the first day of filming he could see the wear and tear on Willis. “I realized that there was a big problem at stake and why they had asked me to shorten their dialogues”, expressed the filmmaker.
Burns even mentioned that he would not shoot another film with the “Die Hard” actor, because in the filming of “Wrong Place”, a film in which Ashley Greene and Michael Sirow appear, it was noticeable that his health had deteriorated a lot.
On the other hand, the announcement was associated with an accident that occurred on the set of “Hard Kill”, in which Bruce Willis fired a gun on the wrong line. The good thing was that this incident did not have great consequences. However, actress Lara Kent assured that the actor did not follow the instructions very well and that he had recurring errors.
The family of the “Pulp Fiction” actor expressed in the announcement of the Willis illness that is a “complex moment” for everyone and that it was a decision that took a lot of thought.
