WhatsApp is testing to improve one of the most useful functions for users

For a couple of weeks now, WhatsApp users have noticed a change in the application, which has to do with sending files.

Previously, if a user wanted to send a video to a contact, they had the possibility to do so as long as it did not weigh more than 64 MB; however, it seems that the developers of the app decided to standardize the issue of file size and now you can only send if they weigh MB.

This has become a problem for hundreds of users who used to use the app to share audiovisual content, since now it seems impossible to do so through this platform, being forced to look for other alternatives.

Also, surely you have noticed that previously, when you shared a link on WhatsApp it was shown to you as a type of header or cover to verify that you were really sending what you wanted; now, this option has disappeared and it is only possible to view the link.

However, all these changes seem to be necessary for some tests that WhatsApp would be carrying out with the intention of being able to increase the size of the file that you want to send through your app.

In fact, the developers of the application have launched a test only in Argentina so that people can send files weighing up to 2GB.

This option may be available for both the Classic and Business versions. All you have to do is update the app through Google Play or the Apple Store, depending on the type of cell phone you have.

What should be highlighted is that this extension of the limit of up to 2GB would only be for files that are documents but not for multimedia. In this case, photos, videos and voice messages, the maximum size allowed is 16 MB. On most devices this equates to between 90 seconds and 3 minutes of video, although the length will depend a lot on the quality.

It is important to know that if you want to send files of this type but they exceed the 16 MB limit, then the trick will be to send them as an attached document. In addition, in this way, the video or photo does not lose resolution.

How send a file via WhatsApp

You must open a chat from one of your contacts and then press the “Attach” button, which is represented by a clip icon that appears at the bottom right of the screen.

Then, a pop-up window will open where different sending options are displayed and there you must also choose the type of file you want to send. What is recommended is to choose the “Documents” option because everything you have stored on your cell phone will appear there.

Then, a menu will be displayed where you can determine what the document will be. file to send, but you must click on the “Search” for other documents section, which is located at the top of the screen. This will display a new series of recent files, then the user should touch the three horizontal lines option, which will open the “Open” menu from, which is where the images, videos and audios are located in the highest possible quality.
