Quentin Jerome Tarantino was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on 27 March 1963, but after the separation of his parents he spent his early years in the suburbs of Los Angeles.

Driven by his love of film, dropped out of high school at 15 years to pursue an acting career, taking classes during the day and watching classic movies at night.

Struggling to survive, his first real job, as a clerk at the rental shop of Video Archives near his home in Manhattan Beach, turned out to be a period of very prolific movie consumption.

After meeting his future collaborator, Lawrence Bender, in a party, Tarantino began writing his first screenplay, “Reservoir Dogs”, which was an immediate success, grossing more than ten times its modest budget. The film was financed by actor Harvey Keitel, who would become one of the most valuable recurring members of the Tarantino cast.

Tarantino’s films are characterized by having a great content of violence, play with the narrative structures and develop black humour.

He has won two Oscars for “Best Original Screenplay” for his films: ‘Pulp Fiction’ and ‘Django Unchained’. In addition to two other Golden Globe awards, two BAFTA awards and a “Palme d’Or” at the Cannes Film Festival. He has also worked on episodes of prestigious television series and has been the producer of several horror and martial arts movies.
