A New Jersey university announced the launch of the first master’s degree focused on the implications of happiness for individuals, their workplace and society, which will have a cost of $17,700 dollars.

The program, considered the first of its kind in the world, will be taught at Centenary, a private university in Hackettstown, New Jersey, with about 700 students.

Although the master’s degree is planned to start in the fall, already has received 38 requests since it was announced at the Summit Happiness World Cup 18 in March in Miami, according to Fox News.

According to Bruce Murphy, president of the University, during the announcement of the launch of the program, it is an online postgraduate course of 30 credits designed for leaders who are committed to personal, interpersonal, organizational, and social happiness.

“Based on science and research, this new degree will study happiness and resilience to prepare graduates to have an impact in a wide range of fields,” he said.

Murphy told Fox News that a variety of professionals could benefit from the program, such as the HR employees who create trainings for staff or CEOs who embed lessons in their organizations.

The mission of the academy “is to lead the happiness revolution by educating leaders who are dedicated to personal, interpersonal and community flourishing”, according to its website.

The title will incorporate aspects of various disciplines ranging from psychology, philosophy and neuroscience to finance and business, literature, religion and music.

“Regardless of your area of interest and action… the rigorous insights and evidence-based interventions that are part of the MSc in Happiness Studies will help you bring out the best in your family, colleagues, clients, students, and yourself,” states the site program website.
