Andrés “Manga” Escobar, Colombian soccer player from 30 years old, has become the subject of controversy after being arrested for having raped a woman in Iceland. He was sentenced to two years and a half for that charge by the Reykjavik District Court.
“Escobar was convicted of raping a woman in his home on September 19 and is currently being held in Iceland until September 1 of this year while the case is resolved”, said the Icelandic outlet mbl.is.
The Reykjavík District Attorney filed a lawsuit last 11 of December against Escobar after having sexual relations with the victim at his home without your consent last 11 September 2021.
The report indicates that Escobar “licked her genitals and had sexual intercourse with her, taking advantage of that he could not resist being on the sofa in a state of intoxication. According to the Icelandic portal, Escobar admitted that he had sex with the woman, but that he did it consensually and not in an abusive manner.
The Colombian soccer player’s lawyer appealed the decision of the Icelandic Court in the National Court, but while the pertinent investigations are carried out, the Colombian must be detained.
The Colombian soccer player of 30 has played in Colombia with Millonarios, Deportivo Tolima and Atlético Nacional. He has also played in the leagues of the Ukraine, the United States, Brazil and lastly with Leiknir from Iceland, in which he will now have to wait for his resolution in court.
