Year-on-year inflation rose to 7.9% in the United States and marks a new all-time high not seen since January 1982, according to the most recent report of the Consumer Price Index, published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics .

The biggest increases occurred in gasoline, housing and food, three indicators that are hurting the pockets of families Americans with rapid price escalation.
