The Lewisville Police Department received an emergency call from a woman requesting their assistance for a accident that had occurred between her husband and her son. When the authorities arrived at the home, the older man gave CPR to another who was unconscious in the ground.
The police report revealed that David Eugene Hassell of 17 years, had been using drugs for several days and in a imbalance caused by narcotics, he went with his father to attack him.
The man took his father by the neck with his forearm, as if applying a wrestling key and constantly hit his head against the wall, the intention was to kill him, as explained by the police in a statement, to the Forth Worth Star Telegram.
At one point, the older adult was able to let go of the aggression he was suffering, and went to the place where had a firearm stored, for which he has a permit to carry.
Hassell’s father’s intention was to scare him by just pointing at him, but he started a struggle that caused the gun to fire, hitting a bullet in the son’s abdomen . The father immediately began to give him CPR, while the mother spoke to the emergency room.
The police entered the house in 500 on Northside Avenue, they witnessed Hassell’s father applying CPR to him in order to revive him, so he was rushed to the hospital in where hours later was pronounced dead.
The authorities handled the case as self-defense because the father never intended to kill his son, he was only defending himself against the attacks he was receiving from him.
