LA Events Schedule: Have Fun This Weekend

Mexican comedy

Chavorucos –although in reality it should be written chavorrucos) is the term used in Mexico to define men from 50 years or older who resist growing old and who live, dress and behave like boys from 30. On this topic is the Chavorucos tour, which Adal Ramones (in the photo) and Adrián Uribe currently take through several cities in the country. They will arrive at the Youtube theater (835 Stadium Dr., Inglewood) to offer a single show. Friday 8 pm. Tickets $25 to $135. Reports youtubetheater.com.

Exhibition on corn

LA Plaza Cocina (550 N. Spring St., Los Angeles), a newly opened museum that is the first of its kind focused on Mexican cuisine, opened “Corn: Past, Present, and Future,” an exhibit that explores the use of this grain in Mexican cuisine from an anthropological point of view and historical. Photographs, cookbooks, artifacts and utensils used for the cultivation and nixtamalization of this product, basic in the Mexican diet, are shown. Monday to Friday 12 to 5 pm. It ends in six months. Opera with Ballet

The LA Opera will kick off performances of St. Matthew’s Passion this weekend at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (82 N. Grand Ave. , Los Angeles), a work by Bach in which the Hamburg Ballet will participate. Under the direction of James Conlon and with choreography and set design by John Neumeier, St. Matthew opens the season 16 of the Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center. The ballet will premiere on the West Coast Bernstein Dances, an original work by Neumeier that pays homage to this American composer. Only six functions; ends on 12 of March. Tickets from $. Return circus

After having remained without presentations for two years, Cirque du Soleil returns with new shows, including Ovo, which begins its season at the Microsoft Theater (736 Chick Hearn Ct., Los Angeles). The creator of this show, Deborah Colker, was inspired by the world of insects. The idea for Ovo is not about acts, dance or insects, but about movement. The 16 from March to May 1. New attraction

This weekend Emperor, the new attraction at the SeaWorld water park (302 SeaWorld Dr., San Diego). It is the tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster in California; it’s also the only floorless dive coaster in the state. Named after the emperor penguin, the mountain emulates this species’ ability to dive into the water. Run to more than 35 miles per hour and has inversions, turns of 360 degrees and a vertical drop from 143 feet. Starting Saturday. Included with the entrance ticket; tickets from $33.82. Food fest

Also at SeaWorld (500 SeaWorld Dr., San Diego) has place the Seven Seas Food Festival, in which visitors can taste international dishes. The event also includes beverage tastings and live musical performances. This time a drinks menu of more than is included flavors between beers, cocktails and wines. Dinosaur Show

Dinosaur World Live is a live show in which attendees interact with dinosaurs from the Jurassic era. The show will take place one day only at the National Grove (2200 E Katella Ave., Anaheim) and the whole family can participate. Along with intrepid explorers, you’ll journey across the land to discover a prehistoric world of impressive life-size dinosaurs, including the fearsome Tyrannosaurus Rex. Dinosaur Invasion

Over 30 dinosaurs, including stegosaurus, brachiosaurus, triceratops and tyrannosaurs rex invaded New York City at Miniland USA at Legoland (One Legoland Dr., Carlsbad). These are (fortunately) creatures made with Legos. The scenes show what can happen when a science convention in Manhattan goes wrong. Each piece took more than 60 hours to perform and more were used 30 thousand Legos in each model. Available all summer. Included with the entrance ticket to the park. Tickets from $59.84 .
