WhatsApp: know the new scam that promises a coffee maker as a prize

WhatsApp is the leading instant messaging application with more than 2,01 million users worldwide, is being used by criminals to carry out scams.

Through a series of messages criminals promise their victims that they can win a Nespresso coffee machine in exchange for completing a survey in which they must answer some questions, this must be done through a link that they must access.

As part of the form, people must include their personal data, which is the real objective of criminals , because at no time will the person receive a prize.

Furthermore, the scam includes that once the survey is completed, people must share it a certain number of times among their personal contacts.

According to the National Institute of Cybersecurity of Spain once enter the link provided by the criminals, a fraudulent website opens you can see both the Nespres brand logo so, like a picture of the alleged coffee pot that the victim can get once they answer the questions.

After completing the questionnaire, a message will appear. message in which it is read that the person has 3 opportunities to win the coffee pot, to do so they must choose between 9 boxes that will appear on the screen.

Once any of them is selected, the page warns that the user has failed and that they must try again. After making a second attempt, it displays a message notifying that the person was the winner and that in order to claim the prize they must share the contest link with other people.

Later you are asked to complete another survey, in which the victim can obtain an alleged prize of almost $1,. In this case, they request that the person enter their personal data in a second web form.

Although up to now it has not been possible to identify those responsible for this new fraud scheme, it is known that the data obtained through this system can later be marketed on the Internet. They can also be used to carry out selective attacks that allow access to the bank accounts of the victims.
