A Las Vegas police officer was charged with robbing two casinos and attempting to rob a third after being caught last weekend , for which he will face federal charges.

The federal prosecutor’s office for the state of Nevada filed a complaint arguing that Caleb Rogers robbed Red Rock casino last 12 November and Aliante casino on January 6 previously of being arrested after trying to rob the Rio last Sunday.

According to the federal complaint, Rogers entered the Red Rock Casino during hours of early morning wearing black clothes, a full face mask and latex gloves. He demanded money at the game center cage and took with him 49,810 cash dollars in a “pickup style vehicle”.

Furthermore, the complaint states that the man “had a unique gait, he seemed to pair his left foot and leg while moving around the casino and possible trouble running “.

In this sense, this January 6, Rogers entered the Aliante in North Las Vegas, making the same demand, so this time he took 11,500 cash dollars in a white Volkswagen.

The suspect had the same gait as the person responsible for the previous robbery. In both cases, employees said the robber appeared to have a gun because of the way he kept his hand in his pocket.

So it was on Sunday 27 February, The man allegedly stole tens of thousands of dollars in cash from the sports betting house in Rio, but was detained by the security of the center and unarmed as he was about to escape. The cash was recovered and returned to the casino.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police investigated the serial number of the recovered weapon that the man had and learned that it was registered to the LVMPD, and that the suspect recorded it in a period of time that covered the three robberies, according to the complaint.

Prosecutors described Rogers walking with the same unique gait as the thief who had stolen the other two casinos.

“In a cautionary taped interview at LVMPD headquarters, a Metro detective asked Rogers if anything could have been done to prevent the robberies from occurring” says the complaint. “Rogers replied ‘nothing.’”

Detectives conducted a search of the home of the man and found black latex gloves and the suspended registration of a white Volkswagen Jetta in his name, as well as “occupational injury forms for a knee injury he sustained Rogers at 2019, eviction papers, expiration notices, and demand letters.”

Rogers faces federal charges of interference with commerce for robbery and use of a firearm during and in connection with a crime of violence , apart from the charges filed in Las Vegas Justice Court earlier this week.

He is scheduled to make his first appearance in federal court in Las Vegas next Thursday 03 of March.
