Shakhtar Donetsk's junior Ukrainian coach died in the war against Russia

The coach of the Shakhtar Donetsk children’s categories was killed during the war between Russia and Ukraine this Friday. Segey Palkin, CEO of the Ukrainian team, confirmed the news with a post on Facebook and called the Russian authorities to reflect.

And each one of you will be guilty and responsible for the crimes you have committed, ”said Palkin after the unfortunate death of the coach.

“In sports , fear is that feeling that reduces the probability of victory to zero. Your fear of going against the war in Ukraine is to see cities destroyed, your fear is thousands and thousands of civilian deaths, your fear is dead children and mutilated destinies of millions of people. Your fear of facing a bloody regime is your greatest defeat”, Palkin continued in a message to Russian citizens.

This death is not the only one that Ukrainian sport has suffered, after numerous sportsmen and athletes joined the military forces to help fight Russia.

Jonas Baer-Hoffman, general secretary of the international football players union (FIFPro), confirmed in a conference that Two Ukrainian players died during the war against Russia.

Baer-Hoffman spoke during a sport summit organized by the Financial Times, confirming that the The situation of the players in Ukraine, a country invaded by Russia, is “desperate”.
