Wilber Ernesto Martínez Guzmán was sentenced in Washoe for two people he murdered
A Washoe County judge in Nevada sentenced Martínez Guzmán, originally from El Salvador, to chain life without parole for the shooting murder of a couple in Reno in the year 2019.
The defendant, who entered the United States illegally seven years, pled guilty to all crimes; the four murders and the robbery, which allowed not to receive the death penalty, after an agreement that was made with the prosecution last October.
Martínez Guzmán worked as a gardener for the four victims and the events occurred due to his addiction to methamphetamines , the man needed money to buy them, so he stole Jerry David’s caliber .22 revolver, with that same weapon he murdered the David couple , as well as Constance Koontz and Sophia Renken.

When he was arrested and charged, the Salvadoran faced four life sentences and 200 years in prison on multiple counts of theft. Washoe District Attorney Chris Hicks revealed that the decision to abandon the death penalty was made after an appeal from the families of the victims who did not want the case continue for more years.
“I am happy that he will spend the rest of his life in prison and I hope that he will spend all that time thinking about what these relatives told him,” said Hicks to the Reno Gazette Journal after Judge Connie Steinheimer issued the sentence against Martínez Guzmán.
