The first videos and photographs of the operation carried out in the streets of Colima, which are under military protection. It is worth mentioning that for two weeks the Government of Mexico deployed dozens of elements of the Federal Forces

to strengthen security in that state, affected by the war between the CJNG and the so-called United Cartels , which group together several narco cells.

The alleged death of Mencho

In February of this year, violence in Colima intensified due to a rupture between the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel and the Mezcales, because the latter would have made an alliance with the Sinaloa Cartel (CDS). Weeks later, the Mezcales separated from Sinaloa and announced that they would become the Colima Independent Cartel, in addition to declaring war on the CJNG for the plaza.

For his part, José Bernabé Brizuela Meraz, nicknamed “la Vaca”, leader of the Mezcales allegedly wrote a letter in which he assured that Mencho had died and that he was breaking with the CJNG, because he did not accept Julio Castillo Rodríguez and Jessica Johanna Oseguera González, better known as “la Negra”, son-in-law and daughter of Mencho, respectively, as the new leaders of that cartel in Colima.

The rumors about the supposed death of Mencho

grew to such an extent that the journalist specializing in drug trafficking issues, Héctor de Mauleón said that “the federal government knew that the capo was in serious health and required daily transfusions” d It’s been a year. However, his death has not been confirmed, because there is no body. Given this, the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) and the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) have not denied or clarified whether Mencho is alive or dead.
