Two deputies were hospitalized for having contact with an unknown substance in the Reseda neighborhood

Two sheriffs from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office were hospitalized Tuesday after coming into contact with an unknown substance, possibly fentanyl , when they carried out a search warrant in the neighborhood of Reseda, in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department stated that the overdose incident of marshals reported at approximately 7: 34 am on the block 19300 off W. Sherman Way.

Paramedics had to transfer the two officers, a man and a woman, to a hospital in stable condition.

A Ventura County Sheriff’s Department watch commander confirmed that the two sheriffs, from Thousand Oaks, were in reseda couple to comply with a search warrant in connection with a commercial robbery committed in January.

During the investigation, the two officers were exposed to an unknown substance and exhibited symptoms of an overdose.

Department Hazardous Materials Teams Los Angeles Police and Fire Department responded to the scene to analyze the substance and later confirmed the presence of dangerous opiates at the site

, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, which also had staff on scene.

The male officer was discharged hours later, while the female officer had to remain hospitalized and was expected to be discharged this Wednesday

The substance is suspected to be fentanyl, and a sample of the substance was sent to the laboratory of Ventura County forensics for analysis.

A suspect was arrested at the scene, a man from 34 years, arrested for a crime of violent robbery, for which was booked into a Ventura County jail on a bond of $110,000 Dollars.
