The English Football Association (FA) announced that the English national team will not play against Russia in international competitions in solidarity with Ukraine.
England thus joins other federations, who have already announced that they will not play matches against Russia for the invasion it has carried out in Ukraine.
“In solidarity with Ukraine and to condemn the atrocities committed by Russia, the FA can confirm that we will not play Russia in any international competition. This includes any possible match at any level”
Poland and the Czech Republic are two other teams that have already notified FIFA that they will not face Russia in football matches.
The FA’s announcement came in the middle of the League Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool and in which a tribute was made, in the form of a minute of applause, in solidarity with Ukraine.
