“Guardado, die”: Sevilla fans lashed out hard at the Mexican soccer player

The match between Betis and Sevilla served as the stage for the fans of the Andalusian team to attack with loud chants at the Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium against Mexican midfielder Andrés Guardado.

Apparently the fans were bothered by the supposed mockery of Guardado about the Sevilla player Joan Jordán. This despite the fact that the Mexican assured that he never commented on the aggression against Jordán in the Copa del Rey.

The chants of the fans against the Betis player were generated during the warm-up prior to the match, when it was heard “Guardado, die” in unison throughout the stadium.

It is worth noting that Andrés Guardado started the match against Sevilla on the bench of the group led by the also Mexican Diego Lainez.

The annoyance of the fans was rooted in the gesture that Guardado had at the end of the game in which they advanced to the quarterfinals. During the celebration the Mexican threw a bottle of water in his face and then dropped laughing.

With this action, it is presumed that Guardado tried to mock the attack suffered by Joan Jordán the day before, a fact that caused the suspension of the match.

This is how Andrés Guardado celebrated Betis’ victory over Sevilla.
