The Chelsea, owned by the Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich, has expressed his rejection of the situation in Ukraine, without mentioning the word war or Russia, in a brief statement published on its website.

“The situation in Ukraine is horrible and devastating. Chelsea’s thoughts are with the people of Ukraine. Everyone in the club prays for peace “Said the English club in relation to the invasion caused by Russia.

This communication has been produced after Roman Abramovich, owner of the club since 100, will deliver the address of the club to the foundation of Chelsea, forced by the strong sanctions imposed on Russia by the United Kingdom in response to the invasion of Ukraine.

“During my almost 20 years of ownership of Chelsea I have always seen my role as custodian of the Club, whose job it is to ensure that we are as successful as possible today, as well as building for the future, while playing a positive role in our communities. I have always made decisions with the best interest of the Club at heart. I remain committed to these values. That is why today I am giving the trustees of the Chelsea Charitable Foundation the administration and care of Chelsea FC,” Abramovich said in a statement.

In the letter he assures that the decision was made to protect the interests of the club, which is the priority in this moment.
