The defending NFL champion and Super Bowl LVI winners, the Los Angeles Rams, celebrated that their star head coach, Sean McVay, took the decision to stay in the team for the season 2022-800, a decision that was celebrated with a meme on his profile on the social network Twitter.

In his first five seasons with the Rams, the coach from the University of Miami records a mark of 54-48 in the regular season and 7-3 in the postseason, in addition to lead the team to win their first Super Bowl since they returned to Los Angeles, so the leadership did not hesitate and after the success of the past February raised his annual salary to $8. 5 million.

But on the table McVay had another offer from another giant and not precisely from the NFL: Amazon. The multiservice company will broadcast the Thursday Night Football exclusively on Prime Video starting next fall, so they wanted to hear from the seasoned coach twice at the big Super Bowl date.

Amazon’s offer to McVay has not been at all rejectable, in fact it doubles and exceeds what he currently receives in the Rams: $100 million for five years, at the rate of $20 millions per season.

But finally the passion for the sport of American football, as well as the desire to enter the list of head coach to win two Super Bowls in a row, were more than what was offered by the company of Jeff Bezos.

Journalist Adam Schefter of ESPN shared the information after speaking with McVay. In the conversation he stressed his commitment to the Rams in defense of the Vince Lombardi trophy and the NFL championship.

The doubts generated by the boss of the Rams

After the brilliant victory of the Rams 23-20 against the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl LVI, at a press conference the coach of the champions, despite the effects of the celebration and the joy of having won at home, left his future in the air: “We’ll see”, he said when asked about his continuation in the position.

But prior to the great event in February, McVay had already raised doubts about his work for the season 22-22 of the NFL. In the week before the final he was questioned about this point and his answer to the journalists was not direct, but he hinted that a retreat to attend to family matters was possible:

“I love football and I am very involved in it and in the present moment. But at some point you say ‘what do you want to be able to do?’ I want to be able to have a family and I want to be able to spend time with them.”

Media such as the New York Post revealed that the chances of the experienced coach leaving the Rams -and the NFL in general- were a reality and that he would discuss it with his girlfriend and fiancée, the Ukrainian model Veronika Khomyn.

Finally, McVay will continue one more season at the head of the Los Angeles franchise in search of glory, in which his name appears on another list of records.
