The United States government is taking additional measures to strengthen security in the city of Los Angeles and prevent anti-vaccine trucker convoys from trying to blockade the city during Super Bowl events 2022, as is already the case in Canada.
The authorities in Los Angeles have also reinforced the security of the Super Bowl 2022.
The White House spokeswoman , Jen Psaki, confirmed in her daily press conference that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) already highlighted 100 effective and will increase its capacity with “additional personnel” to prevent disturbances in the city during the celebration of the American football final, the most famous and followed sporting event in the country.
The DHS, assured, maintains “strong” cooperation with the California Highway Patrol, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and state and local authorities, and there is an emergency and coordination center in the area, as is the case with any large event like this.
The Police Department of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and federal agencies from the FBI, Secret Service and Department of Defense have begun descending on Southern California to prepare for Super Bowl LVI.
Some of the major procedures underway include a Department of Energy Nuclear Security Administration helicopter, equipped with radiation detection technology. While Customs and Border Protection agents plan want to use a scanning device that can detect weapons, explosives or any other type of contraband, not only in people, but also in their vehicles.
The White House spokeswoman recalled that in addition to increased maritime and air security in the area.
Earlier, Psaki insisted that “the necessary steps” are being taken to prevent anti-vaccine convoys from affecting trade and transportation in the areas where they are trying to block them.
The increase in security has been decided after the Department of the Interior received reports of the possible appearance of anti-vaccine convoys in the coming weeks in major cities, including Los Angeles.
The Super Bowl final will be held this Sunday in the aforementioned Californian city, where everything is ready to host the most followed US sporting event in the world.
