The curious stories of athletes are always interesting. And if they involve Mexican boxing legends, even more so. Jorge “Maromero” Páez told a special anecdote: when was locked in a room with Julio César Chávez because of Héctor “Macho” Camacho.
Páez was interviewed on the podcast Un Round Más, in which he was asked about this fact, which between laughter counted. It happened in Las Vegas, at a time when Maromero “ was in the heyday and the ugly disaster “, as he himself said.
The former world champion from Mexicali was partying with Héctor “Macho” Camacho. And in one of his plans, Camacho invited him to continue celebrating in a hotel room.
Everything changed when the “Macho” pushed him into the room and closed the door. “ We went up to where he told me, he opened the door, threw me out and closed the door. It was all dark and I said ‘what’s up here!’ I thought it was something private but he cheated on me ”, confessed Páez, who added that Julio César Chávez and the others were asleep while he had two bottles of alcohol in his hands. .
“ He tells me (Chavez) ‘what’s up Maromero, what the hell are you doing here ‘. And I said: ‘I thought it was Macho Camacho’s room, he was the one who put me here, but I’m leaving’”, Páez closed, laughing as he recalled such curious moments.
Maromero himself affirms that he never got along in the best way with Julio César Chávez, for “several reasons” that he did not delve into.
