Sjoerd den Daas, a Dutch journalist experienced an embarrassing episode during the opening of the Beijing Olympic Games 2022, when he had to interrupt his note from outside the Birds Nest Stadium during the live broadcast for TV of his country, since while he was reporting, one of the security guards pushed him out of frame and forced him to cut off. Faced with such a situation, the communicator has already shared his version of the events.
Everything It started last Friday, during the opening of the Olympic Games, when Sjoerd den Daas was reporting live for NOS Niews. According to what is seen in the video that went viral, the journalist was in the frame and appeared on one side of the screen, while on the other his interlocutor was observed on the news set. As the reporter was giving the details, a guard wearing a red armband approached and yelled at him as he pushed him back and forced him out of the shot.
This was considered by various media as a type of censorship and a physical aggression, although the affected person has already given his version of the events, he said that he is fine and thanked those who showed concern for him.
“A man in civilian clothes wearing a red badge that read: ‘Public Safety Volunteer’ forced me out of the picture without warning. He did not identify himself. At the same time, another man took over our light fixture. When asked, they could not say what we had done wrong ”, he recounted through a publication on his account. Twitter Official.
Once the shot was cut, the reporter and his team were not referred to other authorities, but simply moved away a little and moments later they were able to finish their work.
“We were able to continue our live broadcast from a parking lot around the corner”, he limited.
Finally, Sjoerd den Daas explained that he was not the only communicator to have suffered such an incident, since several of his colleagues have had similar experiences while reporting on what happened at the Olympic Games, something that the International Olympic Committee has tried to minimize.
“In recent weeks, we, like several foreign colleagues, have been hampered or detained several times by the police while reporting on Games-related issues. Therefore, it is difficult to see last night’s incident as an isolated incident, as the IOC claims, although such interference rarely occurs live on a broadcast. And now, back to work”, he sentenced.
