Vicente Fox, who was president of Mexico from 2000 to 2006, has given much to talk about in the last few hours after it became known that his millionaire hacienda, known as Hacienda San Cristóbal, had been put up for rent through the platform Airbnb.
It caused such a stir, because the price per night was at $200,000 pesos ($9,700 dollars), that those in charge of the came out to clarify the information and ensure that the property, located in the city of León, in the state of Guanajuato, is not promoted through the famous hosting platform.
“In several media outlets a note is circulating about the cost of our services on the Airbnb platform, this information is completely false, since we do not promote ourselves through said platform”, reads an excerpt from a statement.
Below it is detailed that the residence can be rented for the night, but through the Hacienda San Cristóbal website and at much more affordable prices.
“The average cost of our rooms is $2,500 pesos per night in double occupancy with breakfast included (varies according to the season), in addition to monthly packages that include special amenities and activities”, concludes the text.
According to the statement, the rental income does not end up in the pockets of Vicente Fox and his wife, Marta Sahagún, but is donated to the Centro Fox & Let’s Go Mexico Foundation.
