The legendary Mexican boxer Julio César Chávez stated in an interview how difficult it is for him to see his children Julio César Chávez Jr. and Omar Chávez get into the ring to face an opponent.

On Eugenio Lamazón’s Box Azteca program, Chávez assured that on one occasion he almost suffered a heart attack during one of the fights, and that is why he did not want his children to be boxers.

“I gave them the opportunity, but unfortunately there has been a lot of courage. I have not had a heart attack because God is great. My courage is that they are very irresponsible”, he assured.

Chávez also pointed out that it was impossible to prohibit his children that they box, because they both grew up watching him fight and wanted to follow his example, despite the fact that the relationship between father and sons has not been the best of all.

At first they were happy because they were young with many hopes, but that faded over time. The truth has been difficult”, he said in relation to the performance of his children in the ring.
