The directors of the Águilas del América have made the request of coach Santiago Solari a reality and have hired a winger to reverse the current situation of not having won so far 2022.

Club América announced this Wednesday the hiring of Colombian Juan Otero, from Santos Laguna. The winger thus becomes the fifth reinforcement for the Coapa team to try to transcend in this Clausura 2022 of Liga MX.

At a press conference, both Santiago Solari and Santiago Baños, president of the club, they closed the incorporations.

Subsequently, at a press conference, Santiago Solari, technical director of América, and Santiago Baños, president of azulcrema club, indicated that, after the signing of Juan Otero, they have officially closed the incorporations for the Clausura 2022 and, except for an exceptional case, there will be no more additions, but neither will there be deletions.

“We are always happy with the squad we have and we were happy on January 1st when we were pres entered by the club. Grateful to the coaching staff, to all those who continue and those who are not”

Santiago Solari, DT of America

With this scenario, the azulcrema took the usual photo with the new hires, in which their latest acquisition also posed . In addition to Otero, they previously hired Diego Valdés, Jonathan dos Santos, Alejandro Zendejas and Jorge Meré.

“What we promised to the true Americanist hobby of reinforcing the campus. We define and the players are Diego Valdés, Jona Dos Santos, Jorge Meré, Alejandro Zendejas and Juan Otero. The institution made an important investment and with the squad and coaching staff we will all fight together for the 14”, added Solari.

Argentine coach will seek with these players to give a new title to the fans of the Eagles (the largest in Mexico) who long to see their team lift a new trophy.

Reactions to the new hiring of America

Two relevant characters for Mexican soccer and Liga MX gave their verdict on the hiring of Juan Otero. One of them was Luis Roberto Alves dos Santos Gavranic, better known as “Zague”, a former Americanist player and winner of important titles in the history of the club.

“Don’t suck”, said Zague through his Twitter account, where a week ago he directed harsh criticism against the staff led by Solari.

Another one who always stands out for his controversial opinions is David Faitelson. The Mexican journalist is permanently in the spotlight for his harsh criticism or judgments. He rarely approves of the managerial work of America and on this occasion he assured that the hiring of Otero did not add to America, this 24 hours before the signing became official.

“He is a middling soccer player who has shown little or nothing in Mexico,” he also said through social networks.

The truth is that the Eagles will have to straighten their course when they face Atlético on February 5 San Luis for day 4 of the Closing and after the date of Qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar 2022.
