A Dominican court revoked this Wednesday the definitive file of a lawsuit for alleged gender-based violence filed by the Public Ministry against former baseball player David Ortiz, just one day after his proclamation to the Baseball Hall of Fame of Cooperstown, New York.

The interim judge of the Fifth Investigating Court of the National District, Franchesca Potentini, gave a term of 20 days for the Prosecutor’s Office of the Dominican capital to present an accusation against the former Major League Baseball star.

The complaint for alleged gender-based violence was initiated by the ex-partner of Ortiz Fary Almánzar Fernández , mother of a son of the player. The National District Prosecutor’s Office ordered the file of the complaint, after studying the file deposited by Almánzar’s lawyers.

This is the second time that a court has revoked the filing of the complaint against former player Ortiz; the first time it was ordered by the Second Chamber of the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal of the National District.

‘Big Papi’ joined his compatriots Juan Marichal, Pedro Martínez and Vladimir Guerrero in the Cooperstown Hall of Fame, whose induction ceremony will be held in July.

Ortiz reached a 77,9 % of the votes of the American baseball writers, to exceed the 75 minimum required % and he did it in his first year on the ballot.

The former Dominican designated hitter, an important figure in three Series titles Boston Red Sox World Cup, concluded his career in 20 years in the Major Leagues with a batting average of .286, 541 home runs and 1.768 towed.
