Thousands of activists against the right to abortion celebrated the fact that possibly this year the Supreme Court of the United States could repeal a precedent key of 1973, something that will lead to vetoes to the interruption of pregnancy in the conservative half of the American nation.

Anti-abortionists gather annually in Washington and expressed hope at this new perspective, since it is very likely that the Supreme will annul or erode the aforementioned precedent.

These demonstrations have been held since 1974, one year later that the Court guaranteed legal abortion throughout the United States.

The Supreme Court plans to decide between the months of June and July on the partial veto of the interruption of pregnancy in Mississippi, and in a hearing in December on that case, the conservative majority of the court hinted that it would lean in favor of imposing new limits on the right to abortion.

The ruling of “Roe v. Wade” of 1973 obliges to allow abortion until it is “viable”, a limit that was extended until 23 or 24 weeks , although many conservatives approved laws that violate that guarantee, such as the almost total veto in Texas.

If the justices strike down that precedent, 26 conservative-leaning states are expected to take action to restrict or outright ban the right to abortion in its territory, according to the Guttmacher Institute reproductive health research center.
