Igor Lichnovsky returns to Mexico: the Chilean central defender will join Tigres to replace Carlos Salcedo

Miguel Herrera’s Tigres had been looking for a center back capable of replacing Carlos Salcedo -soon to go to the MLS- and they have finally found him: Chilean Igor Lichnovsky will join the felines for the Closing Tournament 2020 of Liga MX.

The university students reached an agreement with Al-Shabab, a Saudi Arabian club that owns the record of Lichnovsky. Said club announced this afternoon that had agreed to sell the contract of the Chilean defender , with considerable experience in Mexican soccer.

The amount of the transfer and the years of contract that Igor will have with Tigres are still unknown. In the next few hours it will be officially presented.

Lichnovsky began his career with the University of Chile, and later had internships in Europe with Porto, Sporting Gijón and Valladolid.

He ended up in Liga MX and was the undisputed starter with Necaxa for one season. Then he arrived at Cruz Azul, a team in which he also won the position in the rear. In the season 2020/21 left for Saudi Arabia.

While he was with “La Maquina”, Igor was summoned by the Chilean national team for the Copa América 2019, in which he played one match.
