In two actions one day apart, Agents from the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Border Patrol Sector detained 21 undocumented immigrants, to 16 in a safe house and five who tried to escape from a vehicle.
The 10 January, immigration agents received information about a residence in Rome that was possibly being used to house immigrants, reported the Customs and Border Control (CBP) office.
“Immigration agents and the Starr County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and found 14 migrants from Central America, Nicaragua and Mexico“, indicates a media report.
The officers were unable to arrest a “caretaker” of the group, that is, the person who is part of the “coyote” network.
“At the residence, agents found a large amount of cold/flu medication and unsanitary conditions,” it added.
It was indicated that the size of housing did not allow non-citizens to maintain adequate social distance, amid the COVID-pandemic19.
In an operation that occurred the next day, agents from the McAllen Border Patrol station observed suspicious activity and attempted to pull over a vehicle in a Dodge Durango near Madero, Texas.
“When the vehicle stopped, several people fled”, indicates CBP.
The agents began the pursuit of the people and they managed to arrest five immigrants from Mexico and the Dominican Republic, including the driver.
All the people in the events that occurred on 13 and 14 January were processed for deportation.
