The Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, from 34 years and who is considered the best player today, is used to staying in the best hotels in the world, however, his journey through Melbourne, Australia, has become a real nightmare for him, by being detained in what is known as the ‘hotel of terror’ awaiting deportation or being released to play the Australian Open.
The Park Hotel, to which he was transferred for having lied about the reasons that led him not to get vaccinated against covid , is a facility that has been used by the Victorian government to quarantine tourists from overseas and thus avoid the spread of the virus in the entity.
The property, which has 107 rooms and was previously called Rydges, changed owners in the 2020 with the purpose of transforming it into the new Crowne Plaza Melbourne Carlton, but everything has been, up to now, in good intentions.
When the remodeling plans were slowed down of the historic hotel, which included a change of façade and transformation of various spaces, the authorities have continued to use it as a holding center.
The center has been the target of harsh criticism since its opening, as several of the ‘guests’ have denounced the unhealthy conditions under which they find themselves, including The coronavirus outbreak that led Melbourne to confinement for about four months would have originated there.
The Park Hotel, considered four-star accommodation, has a lobby, an area for birthday parties, a wedding hall, six meeting rooms, a business center, a conference rooms, gym, restaurant, bar, cafeteria, laundry and terrace.
The project that was held for the accommodation , once the Crowne Plaza Melbourne Carlton, included a restaurant and bar open 24 hours, a swimming pool and bar on the roof area, a parking lot, a gym, nine meeting rooms and a kind of theater.
