What is the best wine to combat aging?

Alba Hernández

Wine may contain compounds that can help combat premature aging. These plant chemicals are called polyphenols.

Red wine may contain 10 times more amount of polyphenols than white wine. Grapes are rich in polyphenols, including a specific type called flavonoids that impart the wine’s unique color and flavor. Polyphenols are found in the skin of red and purple grapes.

Polyphenols specific to red wine include resveratrol, quercetin, and epicatechins.

Resveratrol is a compound that is associated with a beneficial effect on the heart and against aging.

There are several factors involved in skin aging, one of them is due to the fact that the body gradually produces less collagen and decreases natural elastin, the skin tends to become thinner.

Polyphenols have an antioxidant effect and anti-inflammatory. Antioxidants may help protect against accelerated aging from free radical damage.

The resveratrol in grapes may have a dual effect in helping to combat premature aging of the skin: neutralizing free radicals and increasing antioxidant levels, so that the skin can better defend itself and repair itself.

A review published in Pharmacognosy Review indicates that the free radical molecules that resveratrol combats create the effects of aging on the skin and can damage any body cell.

Topical application of resveratrol has shown improvement in the elasticity and appearance of skin with fine lines and wrinkles, according to a study by 2014 published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology.

You don’t necessarily need to drink wine to reap the benefits of its po lifenoles

The consumption of alcoholic beverages, including wine, can cause negative effects on health that would exceed the assumptions Benefits. Among these negative effects, there is a increased risk of different types of cancer.

Harvard Health clarifies that the The dose of resveratrol administered in the experiments is always much higher than what you would normally consume in a glass of wine.
