As in previous years, New Year’s Day is always a public holiday in the United States Postal Service (USPS) . However, mail will be delivered as scheduled on 31 of December, despite the fact that the offices themselves are closed.
You can be sure that the workers will collect the mail from the mailboxes on the day 31, but not on January 1, New Years Day .
If you are one of the people who are waiting for a package during the New Years you will have to wait until Monday, January 3 for regular USPS services to resume.
In general, postal services are not affected on 31 December, but since it is a federal holiday that falls on Saturday, workers have Friday as a break.
Holidays Federal means that employees have the right to take paid time off, outside of the usual vacations they can take. So those days there is no one to work and the offices remain closed.
The other days where the USPS does not have service
In total the Postal Service has 10 days a year that you do not send mail or packages.
The dates coincide with federal government holidays, since the service is managed by them.
Holidays:
Independence Day: July 5 (because July 4 falls on a Sunday)
USPS is expected to deliver Come in 850 and 950 million packages between Thanksgiving and New Years.
