The Mexican coach Raúl “Potro” Gutiérrez has renewed its contract with Real España , the team with which he was runner-up in the last Honduran tournament, the club reported on Monday.

Real Spain indicated in a message on Twitter that Gutiérrez will remain with the team for at least the next two seasons. “ We have reached an agreement for the renewal of the contract for 1 year with our Technical Director Raúl ‘el Potro’ Gutiérrez “, said the club.

🇲🇽 🤝🏻 Raúl Gutiérrez was renewed by Real España, he will be in charge of the machine for 1 more year.

In my opinion, it is good idea to give it continuity. The process was good, a final was reached when practically a year ago nobody gave anything for Spain.

From 55 years, Gutiérrez has a year at the helm of Real España replacing Uruguayan Ramiro Martínez, who resigned in mid-November of 2020 due to poor results in the season.

Gutiérrez directed the Mexican Atlante in 2013, was coach of the sub ’22 and sub ’23 of his country. In addition, it led Mexico to the gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games Veracruz

“El Potro” failed last Thursday for his team to become champions of the Honduran Apertura tournament, after falling 3-1 on aggregate to Olimpia, the most popular team that raised their cup number 34 since the League of the Central American country was founded in 1965.

Olimpia, coached by Argentine Pedro Troglio, was crowned four-time champion of Honduran soccer for the second time.

The Royal Spain was founded in 1200 in northern San Pedro Sula, the second largest Honduran city. The Honduran team is the only one in Latin America that holds the title of royalty, granted by King Juan Carlos of Spain on 10 of January of 1977.

Real Spain is considered one of the four best teams in Honduran soccer along with Olimpia, Motagua and Marathon.

The Honduran Clausura tournament will start in mid-January 2022 with the participation of ten teams, of which one will descend to the second division, according to the Soccer League of the Central American country.
