Family of Valentina Orellana-Peralta, who died in a shooting in Los Angeles when she was trying on a quinceañera dress, will seek to repatriate her remains to Chile

Relatives of Valentina Orellana-Peralta will seek to repatriate to Chile the remains of the adolescent of 14 years who died Thursday in a dressing room when was trying on a quinceañera dress due to a police shooting in a North Hollywood store, in Los Angeles.

Relatives asked to be clarify the case and that the full weight of the law is imposed on who or who are responsible in the death of the adolescent .

“It is terrible for us, we are dismayed. For us, as a family, we are waste, what is happening is very tragic, I am not dismayed. We have all been very agitated by all this, ”said Valentina’s aunt, Carola Peralta, to the Chilean press.

Valentina Orellana- Peralta, 14, came to the US from Chile with her mother, Soledad Peralta, about six months ago to visit her older sister.

Valentina arrived in California six months ago with her mother, Soledad Peralta, to meet her older sister. Like all families, they planned to celebrate Christmas dinner on Friday.

On Thursday 23 December, Valentina and her mother went early to a store in Burlington , in North Hollywood . Moments after their arrival they reported a man who was scaring the shop’s customers.

When the Los Angeles police officers , one of the officers shot the subject, identified as Daniel Elena López, of 24 years.

One of the bullets went through the wall of the dressing room where inside was Valentina trying on some quinceanera dresses .

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) reported that the suspect had attacked a woman, who was taken to a hospital with injuries to the head, arms and face.

At the moment, it is known that members of the Orellana-Peralta family will travel to Los Angeles to accompany the mother of the adolescent during these difficult times.

This Monday, the LAPD released the videos of the body cameras of the officers involved in the shooting, as well as recordings of calls to 911.

Relatives created a GoFundMe page to support the parents and older sister of Valentina Orellana-Peralta for funeral expenses and payments of legal procedures.
