The French singer Geraldine Larrosa , better known by her stage name Innocence , was married to the late Spanish singer Carlos Marín from 2006 to 2009, and previously both had maintained a romantic relationship that lasted more than a decade. Although their marriage ended in divorce to the surprise of those close to him – who saw them as the perfect couple, according to the own singer of Il Divo on one occasion-, the separation was amicable and he even became the godfather of the daughter she had with a later partner.
Carlos died on 19 December at 53 years after being admitted to a Manchester hospital during the tour that the group was performing in the UK and, at the public wake held in Madrid, Geraldine revealed that they had both made plans to remarry after reconciling in the last two years .
“We had survived the pandemic and in the end the pandemic took it away from me,” Geraldine lamented on leaving the funeral home. The singer also paid tribute to Carlos on Instagram rescuing the photos of his first wedding, held at Disneyland, to add: “We were going to repeat this moment, but it doesn’t matter because I know that the universe is going to unite us millions of times.”
