Jean-Marc Vallée , director of the first season of “Big Little Lies” (HBO) and films such as “Dallas Buyers Club”, has died at 58 years, according to several American media.

The news of the death , of which the cause is unknown, has been given by his producing partner, Nathan Ross, through a statement, which Variety collects.

Jean-Marc represented creativity, authenticity and trying things differently. He was a true artist and a caring, generous guy. Everyone who worked with him couldn’t help but see the talent and vision he possessed ”, he says.

“We will deeply miss the teacher,” he adds, “but it is a consolation to know that his beautiful style and his impressive work that he shared with the world will endure.”

The filmmaker, who was also a screenwriter and producer on well-known projects, received an Oscar nomination for “Dallas Buyers Club,” starring Matthew McConaughey, and won two Emmys for “Big Little Lies.”

He was also the director of the series “Sharp Objects” (HBO), starring Amy Adams, and “Queen Victoria”, with Emily Blunt.

Vallée, of Canadian origin, became known in 2005 with “CRAZY”, a revelation film for critics and audiences.

Vallée worked with the actress Laura Dern in “Big Little Lies ”And the movie“ Wild ”. Following the news of the director’s death, Dern dedicated a few heartfelt words to him.

“The world has lost a great and pure artist and dreamer . We have lost a dear friend. Our hearts are broken, ”the actress posted on Instagram.
