Eurobasket in danger: Real Madrid basketball suspended its match due to COVID-19 cases

The basketball Euroleague has been affected by the Omicron variant of COVID – 19. The match between Real Madrid and Fenerbahce was suspended, after the Madrid team will not have the eight players needed to face the match.

Laso, Heurtel, Causeur, Poirier, Hanga, Yabusele, Nuñez, Randolph, Sergio Llul and Taylor are the members who have tested positive in recent days and must be in quarantine until test negative two consecutive times in PCR tests. Those eight positives join the injured Thompkins, Alocén and Abalde.

Fenerbahce – Real Madrid is the third game that the Euroleague has to postpone due to the covid after Zalgiris – Armani Milan of the day 17, and Armani Milan – Alba Berlin also of the day 18 for the outbreak that occurred in the Italian team.

According to the protocols of the Euroleague for the covid – 19, each postponed match can be repositioned on the calendar up to three times if there are dates available. Then, in communication with the teams, the rescheduled date is defined.

Spanish football has also been affected by COVID – 19. Barcelona FC announced this December 27 two positive cases in the squad. Clement Lenglet and Dani Alves are the two affected players who are isolated from the squad.

Real Madrid soccer had up to seven players infected during December and that they have recovered just before the restart of the season in 2022 when they play in La Liga Santander against Getafe.
