Chelsea manager accuses Premier League of match overload

The Premier League has been one of the leagues most affected by the new Omicron variant of COVID – 19 after several teams reported infections within the squad and the matches were suspended. Several coaches have raised their voices against the tight schedule and also the little support they receive from the English league authorities regarding injuries.

This time, Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea FC technical director, raised his voice to denounce the overload of matches and the little help in terms of the changes they can make to the squad due to the increase in injuries and players out for the cases of COVID – 19.

“We are not only footballers, we are also parents and we have fears and doubts . I am struggling and I would like to have five changes because it would help me protect the players for the duration of the outbreak. We are the only League that does not have five changes “, said the German coach.

Chelsea triumphed 3-1 over Aston Villa this 26 in December on Boxing Day, but suffered the casualties of N’Golo Kanté and Thiago Silva who are an important part of the team and who added to the injuries of players like Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Hudson Odoi, among others.

“They make us play all the time, even if we have COVID – 19. We have suffered new injuries -Thiago Silva and Kanté fell in Villa Park- and this will not stop. The people who are in the offices are the ones who make these decisions, “said the former Borussia Dortmund.
